the idea of going downtown with our kids has never seemed fun
to us. so we did not plan to go to VegFest. however, when a friend texted to say we should go get some Loving Hut sandwiches as his birthday celebration, we decided to go for it.
we walked the length of the festival then joined the lineup for loving hut. we placed our order, then wandered around some more to pass time for the 45 minute wait till our food was ready.
we got the kids a cookie each from edible flours, and tried to find a shady spot to eat them.
our three year old son was a handful, and then some, as we expected him to be. lots of running in random directions, fussing over random things. our daughter was thirsty. we forgot to bring our water bottles and had spent all our cash. so we had to go into the mall (yuck) to look for something to drink (that we could use non-cash to pay for). we all got pretty grumpy by then. crowds + concrete + us = caged animals kinda vibe.
we got our food, made our way back down underground to our van, drove out of the concrete crazy town, to the beach, where we belong, to eat and play.
